What is an event designer?
In general, a planner's responsibility does not involve creating the design or creative elements for weddings or events. However, they often play a crucial role in identifying a creative thinker who can best assist the client in these aspects and supporting the execution of various creative tasks. An event designer serves as the artist, idea-maker, and aesthetic visionary for the event.
Collaborating with the client, they handle tasks ranging from selecting a color palette to designing a floor plan, choosing linens, furniture, and other rentals, envisioning floral designs, and even creating branding for the event or wedding. A skilled designer introduces new and innovative ideas, avoiding the mere replication of décor from existing media sources.
Typically, designers refrain from assisting clients in choosing unrelated creative partners (vendors) or managing the logistical aspects of the event. It's essential to note that while many designers offer production services, involving the physical realization of designs like building centerpieces or crafting backdrops, it's not uncommon for designers to be the creative force conceptualizing ideas for an event, which they may then delegate to another team for production.
